Almondnet has been designed to be a combination of websearch and music information.

Here you can find data on perhaps the greatest and most original music era of pop and rock, including a selection of Top 10's and info on definitive artistes and their lyrics.

The 80's launched the careers of Madonna, George Michael, U2, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson who continue their global success to this day, solidifying their names into the music hall of fame.

The 80's also introduced us to the world's first girl bands in Bananrama and The Bangles as well as taking the first steps towards producing groundbreaking music videos such as a-ha's "Take on me".

However, the one thing that stands out from the 80's is the pop-synth sounds of bands such as Eurythmics, Soft Cell and OMD, who perhaps didn't have the longevity of the aforementioned but who left us with lasting memories of their highly original music that lingers in our record collections and occasionally pops up as a remix to this day.

The 80's were however, also responsible for one hit wonders Toni Basil with "Mickey" and Tommy Tutone's "867-5309 / Jenny" - perhaps not so great!

Whatever your thought's of the 80's, they shaped the music world into what it is today. You can still dance like a pro to Irene Cara's "Fame", play professional air guitar to Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and (although you might hate to admit it) still sing into your hairbrush and know all the words Bananarama's "Venus"!
